Increase Efficiency and Save Money
Posted by Frank under Homeowner, Tips
Appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators consume a considerable amount of electricity. In fact, a
refrigerator is often a home’s heaviest electricity user. If you have a new manufactured energy efficient refrigerator, you can still save on electricity by following a few simple energy saving tips.
Whether or not you have an energy-efficient refrigerator, you can take advantage of the following tips to increase efficiency.
- Adjust your freezer temperature to 0 degrees F, but it may take a long time to thaw foods. Keep the refrigerator at 38 degrees F or colder (any warmer will allow foods to spoil).
- Keep the refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible. The cold air that escapes when the door is opened is replaced by warm air that must be cooled all over again.
- Be sure the refrigerator and freezer doors seal tightly. You can test the seal by closing the door on a piece of paper. If you’re able to remove it easily with the door closed, it’s probably time to replace the rubber gasket around the door’s perimeter.
- Keep the freezer stocked. Frozen items in the freezer help keep neighboring items frozen. You can also add containers or bags of ice if you are unable to keep your freezer full of food.
- Don’t over-stuff your refrigerator. A full refrigerator has to work harder to stay cool than a moderately full one.
- Keep the refrigerator’s cooling coils free of dust. This will prevent the refrigerator from over working and increase energy efficiency.

Going Beyond a Simple Thank You
Posted by Frank under Service Providers, Tips
The one thing I have learned is to never take anything for granted. Giving someone thanks is a kind gesture, but it must be sincere. A simple thank you is great, but what other steps could you take to really express your appreciation?
You’re a Service Professional and you just completed a service call for a customer. The customer is thankful because you responded quickly and the repair was done professionally. You thank the customer for the opportunity, and extend an offer if they should need any other handyman services to please select you as the provider in ServiceLive.
Going beyond a simple thank you can put you in a winning situation with customers that you performed services for in the past. A good practice would be a card sent to the customer with a message such as;
“Hello Mrs. Jones, Thank you for the opportunity to fix your leak in the bathroom. If there are any opportunities in the future please contact me through the ServiceLive Online Platform. I look forward to assisting you in all your handyman services.”
Wow! What a concept, a follow up card giving thanks and reassurance. By going beyond a simple thank you, could bring you more opportunity not only from that customer, but also through contacts of their friends or family.

New Beginnings with Peace of Mind
Posted by Sarah under Homeowner
My sister Rachel just bought a new condo – her first home purchase. She has some work to be done but was unsure about how to find good providers to take care of her fix-up stuff, without breaking the bank (you know how expenses add up when you buy a new place). Well, I told her about ServiceLive and she decided to try it.
Last week, she created a service order to have a new toilet installed along with replacing the 4 ceramic tiles around the base of the toilet. She uploaded 3 pictures of the toilet and the workspace and posted the order. She posted the order for $150. At the end of last week, she got her first bite –
a conditional offer for $850. She was not excited about that offer, and decided to wait to see what the other techs said. She just called me today – super excited – her service order was accepted for her original bid rate, $150! She feels great about the value and thinks the platform is awesome.
She told me that she would have told people about the website regardless (because she’s a good sister), but now she’s excited to tell her friends about the latest new thing on the web and how easy it was to find someone to help her! She said she will be a ServiceLive user for all of her service needs in the future.
Special Thanks

Joshue / Stan / Angelica – I can see all the hard work you did to make sure providers knew about the opportunity (and just having providers available in the first place) – Thanks for that!

Rachel said the platform was easy to use – she didn’t have a lot of questions about how to create the order – awesome job.
Thanks team, for making my sister’s first home purchase that much easier. It makes me feel good too, knowing that my sister is in good hands!
Thanks for everything you’ve done to make Rachel’s story possible!
